Boorloo Bridge opened on December 22, 2024 providing a stunning access way for pedestrians and cyclists from East Perth to Victoria Park via Heirisson Island and parallel to the Causeway Bridge. Boorloo is the Noongar name for Perth and the design of the bridge recognises Whadjuk Noongar culture and the heritage significance of the area. The bridge spans the Swan River (Derbarl Yerrigan) at Heirisson Island (Matagarup - meaning “a place where the river is only leg deep,”). M

McCallum Park is a large open space alongside the Swan River in Victoria Park which is often used as a venue for large scale events. We decided to walk along the river on this section to complete the river foreshore walk from Millers Pool in South Perth to the new Boorloo Bridge. The stunning new Boorloo Bridge has opened at the eastern end of McCallum Park offering a 1km detour across to Point Fraser with plenty to explore along the way, including the kangaroos on Heirisson

We chose to spend a day of the school holidays exploring what Burswood Park has to offer and it certainly kept us busy all day! BURSWOOD PARK PLAYGROUND We started our adventure at Burswood Park Playground, a fully fenced shaded playground on the banks of the Swan River. There are parking bays here and toilets, picnic benches and barbecues are a short walk away. Additional parking is available across the road at Burswood Carpark.
