We found ourselves shipwrecked at Alkimos recently and spent the day reading treasure maps, walking the plank and climbing the rigging. Paruna was chosen as a safe haven for wildlife because of it's location between two national parks, Avon Valley National Park and Walyunga National Park. September is Waterfall and Wildflower season so we decided to hike the four trails within Ellis Brook Reserve in Banyowlah Regional Park. We've hiked this trail a few times but have always walked clockwise so this time we decided to walk the trail anti-clockwise. The corner of Saw Avenue and May Drive in Kings Park has been the site of a natural playground since 1974 but refurbishments in 2009 and 2014 have turned this into a beautiful natural play area with nature play features including interesting wood carvings. This interpretive trail follows Piesse Brook in Kalamunda National Park to Rocky Pool before returning the same way, a round trip of 3.4 km taking around an hour all up.
