Herdsman Lake is a wonderful trail for a walk or a cycle but at 7km it is perhaps a bit long for little legs. Why not try the shorter loop around picturesque Floreat Lakes from Popeye Lake either on foot or by bike? Boorloo Bridge opened on December 22, 2024 providing a stunning access way for pedestrians and cyclists from East Perth to Victoria Park via Heirisson Island and parallel to the Causeway Bridge. The Canning River Regional Park offers a number of walking, cycling and kayak/canoe trails following the Canning River up or down stream from the Kent Street Weir. We finally ticked off one of Perth's BIG playgrounds and it is unique! The volcano dominates this fully fenced play space and you can climb the spiral path to the top where every 15-20 minutes steam rises from the volcano! A day's reprieve in the middle of a heatwave had us heading to Jolimont to enjoy this short walk through the leafy green streets with a couple of playgrounds along the way. The trail starts with Number 1 - McCallum Avenue Precinct located opposite Daglish Railway Station (1924) on Stubbs Terrace. Parking is limited here so we started from Mabel Talbot Park but I will write the blog in the correct order starting with 1 as the trail can be picked up anywhere along the route.

Armadale Settlers Common was proclaimed a reserve in 1897 after years of logging. It served as a commonage on which people could cut timber and graze animals. With wildflower season fast approaching we decided to hike the 4.6 km Wildflower Walk Trail in John Forrest National Park.
