This wonderful piece of bush is an internationally recognised biodiversity hotspot with numerous unique species and habitats. The Warwick Bushland Jarrah Loop Trail is a 1.3km flat packed limestone trail to the north of Warwick High School and opposite the Warwick Stadium. Jorgensen Park, situated on the old Kalamunda Golf Course, offers the best of both worlds. You can wander across the old fairways exploring as you go or you can take the 2.7km loop Jorgensen Park Walk Trail which incorporates the fairways with bush trails including sections of the Bibbulmun Track. A wildflower walk through Landsdale Park mid August revealed a multitude of gorgeous flowering plants. The 3km Werrilyiup bush trail loops around Horse Swamp, a natural palusplain wetland that comes to life in the winter months, but is usually dry for the greater portion of the year. These kid friendly falls are very easy to access as they are just metres from Toodyay Road with the turnoff opposite the Noble Falls Tavern. The down side of the falls being so easy to access is that it can be very crowded especially in Spring so head out early or have a back up plan (Lake Leschanaultia is only 15 minutes away) and FR Berry Reserve is also close by. This gem of a park is hidden around the freeway interchanges in Perth. From Elizabeth Quay Train Station it is about a 20 minute walk along Mounts Bay Road. Starting at Neil Hawkins Park and heading north this time was a different experience to the southern walk. Depending on the time of year you will get glimpses of the lake through the trees or when the lake level is high you can see the water seeping into the paperbarks giving a lovely wetland feel. This piece of bush behind the Craigie Leisure Centre is full of surprises. Easy access is by walking behind the leisure centre and through one of the gates into the Reserve (recommended access point for wheelchairs, prams or bikes). There is more to Cottesloe than the iconic beach view of the Indiana or the magnificent Sculptures by the Sea held each year in early March. UPDATE - The secret garden surrounding the Careniup Wetlands is no longer a secret and it is also no longer as visually stunning.
