This small local playground in suburban Wellard is set amongst mature shady trees. The play areas are built around existing tree trunks, logs and rocks interspersed with metal cubby frames, tyres, concrete tunnels and softfall. Lake Claremont is a beautiful wetland which is a nesting site for turtles, swans and other waterbirds. You can walk or cycle around the lake's 2.5 km flat dual use path. The well shaded path around the lake takes around 45 minutes to walk but with a bird hide, three playgrounds, a cafe and lots of wide open green spaces you could easily make a day of it! The corner of Saw Avenue and May Drive in Kings Park has been the site of a natural playground since 1974 but refurbishments in 2009 and 2014 have turned this into a beautiful natural play area with nature play features including interesting wood carvings. This is an amazing fully fenced playground on the edge of Bibra Lake. Access is via Progress Drive. The Bibra Lake Regional Playground has double gates to keep the kids contained but they will be so busy with all the different pieces of equipment they won't want to leave! The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail loops between Bellevue and Mt Helena with both a northern and southern trail. While previously we have walked the northern trail notably within John Forrest National Park and through the Swan View Tunnel we only recently discovered the southern trail exists and it is well worth a visit! The 3km Werrilyiup bush trail loops around Horse Swamp, a natural palusplain wetland that comes to life in the winter months, but is usually dry for the greater portion of the year.
