Having walked a number of sections of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail we came back to explore this section which runs north/south and joins the southern Jane Brook line (Bellevue to Sawyers Valley) to the northern Mahogany Creek Deviation line (Bellevue to Mt Helena). When we were hiking these trails I wasn't sure if these two trails are the same of if they just overlap. Sometimes things make so much more sense afterwards and when writing this blog I referred to the Trails WA information on both trails and realise that the West Terrace Trail forms the beginning of the Xanthorrhoea Trail which veers off to traverse the ridge into the Brine Moran Reserve. This Heritage Trail consists of three different loops around the Scarborough and Trigg Coastline, extending into Trigg Bushland. Each loop can be walked in isolation or combined, as we did, into a 7.5km (2 Hour) walk. The section of the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail between Mt Helena and Parkerville has three Fire Recovery Statues commemorating the 2014 Parkerville fire.
